tonight is back to school night!
i love this stuff!
saw this on pinterest and knew i had to do it
here is a little recap of Bean’s First Day of Kindergarten.
it was such an exciting morning.
after cuddles with baby brother, milk and toonies, bean got ready for
her big day.
poor emmy didn’t understand why she couldn’t go too.
but she and baby brother did great with grandma.
as we were waiting for the door of room 2 to open by Mrs Holley, i
could feel bean’s hand tightening a little bit and she was hovering a
little closer to either me or zack. she even mentioned that her hand
was getting sweaty. ours were too!
she clammed up when Mrs Holley introduced herself to Bean. We found
her Cubby and Name tag and started checking things off our To Do List.
It was going pretty well, but as the afternoon went on, Bean got more
and more clingy and scared and didn’t want to do the things on the
list. Things that we knew she could do and do well! like write her
name and color a picture of herself.
Her and one of her class mates started crying when it was time to go
outside and learn the rules. Daddy went with her but I am not sure
that helped. I started tearing up too and it was a goal of mine not
Poor girl was scared. Kindergarten was all new to her and it was scary!
Mrs Holley read one last story while the parents were there. Bean
leaned on me and grabbed for my hand. I wish I could have sat there
all day holding her. But I knew once she got over her fear she would
I kissed her tear stained face good bye and slipped out. Zack stayed
behind until Mrs. Seng reassured him that she and it would be ok. and
he slipped out too.
our hearts heavy.
after quickly turning in some paper work in the office, zack and i
slipped back to her class to take a peek and she was sitting on the
carpet with her class mates listening to Mrs Holley’s story.
we were excited to go back a couple hours later and hear about her day.
she was all smiles and full of stories about Frog hunting adventures,
trips down the slide, snacks and cookies in the shade and this friend
and that friend! she even got to be the Leader of the Frog Hunt!
her excited stories continued throughout the evening and our hearts
swelled while our faces smiled and encouraged her to tell us more.
we explained to her that daddy wouldn’t be able to drop her off the
next day. just mommy, emmy and jase and that she needed to be a big
she said “kindergarten isn’t scary anymore so i will say good bye like
a big girl!” that’s my girl!
and i just read Kelle Hampton’s Blog Post about her oldest daughter’s First Day of Kindergarten experience. And I wish I could write as eloquently as she does. I could literally Copy + Paste her words and put them on my blog. We are very similar (our Girls are about the same age and I from what I read on her blog, have similar personalities). I just wish I had an ounce of her fashion sense and wit.
i will be taking limited Holiday Family Photo sessions on the weekends only in September, October and November. Book early to reserve your spot.
*stay tuned* for my next Give Back Project that will benefit The Walk to End Alzheimers.
